Looking Over the Veil into 2009
There are a number of things that will surely
happen.
Thursday 1 January will be New Year's Day
Tuesday 6 January
the Representatives of Government will be sworn in.
Tuesday, 20 January at noon the President-Elect becomes, Mr. President,
Barack H. Obama.
Those across the aisles in Congress will be on their worst behavior. The
"outs" doing all to sabotage the work of the "ins". District local "pet"
projects will be scrutinized and probably denied....."The bridge to nowhere".
Had those monies been used in Minnesota, maybe that bridge would never have
fallen. I shake thinking that just after that bridge was opened I rode across
it a few times.
Celebrations around the world over weeks' time may get out of hand in a few
places celebrating a young man chosen to the most powerful post in the world.
President Obama will explode the spirits of past Presidents and for some of the
signers of the Declaration of Independence. Then, that most powerful "one drop"
of "Black Blood" made an American citizen of Color just three-fifths human.
That "one drop" still has more power than any bomb ever dropped.
The racist barbs will continue as has fueled by the Republican National
Committee's new "parody".
No matter what happens the new President will be a figurative dart board.
There are and will continue to be wars and rumors of wars left over for the new
President.
Unruly students will cause America to cry again with some tragedy at a school or
two. These will be hate crimes. Racist and sexual.
The Wall Street rip-off artists will get smacked on the back of the hands.
Their victims will continue to commit suicide. Some may murder their family
members before causing their own demise.
Foreclosures on residences will continue. Bridge underpasses will create more
mini-communities of the displaced families
Businesses will continue to try to exist, fail and file for bankruptcy, give up
behind the stringent paperwork and go out of business. More jobs lost.
Because of years of neglect with inspections of bridges, public roads and public
buildings, we'll see them crumble. It will take years of inspections and
reports arranged to triage what is most dangerous and in immediate repair.
Those with construction skills will find work. Plan drafters, red-iron workers,
rebar tiers; welders, concrete mixers and pourers, screeders, finishers, get
your skills honed. You are going back to a job
Private businesses that should have been thoroughly inspected, but were given a
cursory eying will collapse and employees will be killed.
Storms will decimate parts of our country. We will not have the people power to
assist them because the National Guards will be in Afghanistan or some place
that has not exploded and we take our best to "help" ungrateful, feuding clans.
We have given so much money in charity that we'll have empty wallets. The
charitable organizations that would have been available to write a check and
cover the expenses of numbers of community groups have lost their funds in a
Ponzi game. They too have reached a point of being broke accept for the assets
they can put their hands on. Now Mr. Moneybags really knows what being poor
means.
Before the end of the year he will appreciate the taste of boxed macaroni and
cheese.
We'll remember the holidays on the calendar with so-called sales.
How does one "celebrate" the deaths of those known or unknown to us with sales
on Memorial Day and Veterans' Day?
We'll celebrate the Fourth of July with the obligatory backyard cookout. I see
that fireworks will be few because those monies are needed for other projects.
Also the noise will only mask the thieves breaking into businesses that still
exist.
Labor Day will be a joke. Labor means work. The once available jobs are
off-shore and being handled by human-robots who don't give a damn about the USA
because they are happy to be making $4 a hour.
I believe 100% in American cars. [My late Dad was a Master for one of the Big
Three. He was always proud as a peacock to show his awards.] We probably won't
have many more American made cars. Our dealers will be out of business. From
experience, some should have never had a dealership.
The newest American cars are NOT made for us "Baby Bloomers". It took me months
to contact the "family" of what I drive and tell them what is wrong with their
cars. I did receive a very nice letter after months. Time passed and I got an
e-mail survey. I've not heard another word from them.
Detroit, listen to those who still buy your product.
I must admit what I drive is a gem of a car with a few "dumb" amenities. Heaven
forbid a bulb burns out. Days ago I took my auto to favorite mechanic, not the
dealer's. It took him about ten minutes to remove seven screws to replace
one 69cent bulb .
Many who have thought it "cute" to drive the latest vehicle, leased of course,
will be on foot. Had they bought their vehicle, they could ride. Now, no job,
no vehicle and little hope.
Thanksgiving, 2009 will not be as years past. Very somber.
Christmas sales will not be better.
Osama binLaden will be history around the end of 2009 and the first of 2010.
No matter what the President does to help the USA he will be fodder for the wags
with media outlets.
Things will get better. 2009 will be the year America gets a triple dose of
castor oil.
Going down the taste is terrible and exiting, it will
be a mess.
